Well, it’s been a fun ride getting things for free and making money to boot all these years. However, as of May 2009, Walgreens will no longer be offering its EasySaver Rebate program.

For those of you not familiar with this great money-saving and even moneymaking program, check my article here. Everyone else: take a moment to pay your respects to the discontinuation of what was a great freebie program.

Walgreens offered no official reason for discontinuing its rebate program (I suspect that too many people were making money off the rebates and not buying enough of the products later on), but did hint that it would be pursuing "a new loyalty program so we can offer our consumers new and improved services." I suspect that the lesser known Walgreens program, Register Rewards, will be juiced up to replace EasySaver.

All I know is that, I’m glad I just received my last ever rebate gift card from Walgreens!
